Lucas Pouille was born in February 23, 1994 in Grande-Synthe, France; to father, Pascal and mother, Lena who is Finnish. Lucas has 2 brothers, Nicolas and Jonathan. He started playing tennis at age 8. He joined the Pole France at Poitiers and then the INSEP at Paris. In 2008, he won the 17/18 years old French Championship. He turned pro in 2013 and has improved his ranking in 4 straight seasons, ending 2016 in the ATP Top 15. Lucas whose favorite surface is hard, is a big fan of Roger Federer. During his free time he enjoys going shopping, hanging out with friends and spending time with long time girlfriend Clemence Bertrand. At the Miami Open, Lucas Pouille defeated 32nd seed Guillermo García-López and eighth seed David Ferrer to reach the round of 16 just a few weeks before the Monte Carlo Masters where he defeated Nicolas Mahut and Richard Gasquet to reach the round of 16 as well.

He reached his first quarter-finals at Wimbledon and at the US Open after impressive wins against Juan-Martin Del Potro and above all Rafael Nadal after 5 sets of an epic battle. He won his first tournament at the Mosell Open against Dominic Thiem. He ended the year with a career-high ranking of 15. He received for his 2016 season the ATP World Tour Award of the most improved player.
